Kerala logs nearly 1.5 lakh Covid-19 cases in 5 days

Observing that touching cheeks without a sexual intent would not attract the offence of “sexual assault” under the Pocso Act, the Bombay high court on Friday granted bail to a 46-year-old chicken seller who spent 13 months in jail. The court said primary evaluation of the material on record does not suggest the accused touched the minor’s cheeks with a sexual intent. “In consideration of these facts, in my view, a case is made out for releasing the applicant on bail,” the court said.

हेडिंग्ले : तिसऱ्या सामन्यात भारतीय संघ पराभूत झाला आणि त्यानंतर रवींद्र जडेजा हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल झाल्याचे पाहायला मिळाले. त्यामुळे भारतीय संघाची चिंता वाढल्याचे पाहायला मिळत आहे. तिसरा कसोटी सामना संपल्यावर जडेजा लगेगच हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल झाला. तिसऱ्या कसोटीच्या दुसऱ्या डावात जडेजा धडाकेबाज फलंदाजी करत होता, पण सामना संपल्यावर तो थेट हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल झाला. यावेळी जडेजाची वैद्यकीय चाचणी करण्यात आली आहे. तिसरा सामना सुरु असताना जडेजाच्या गुडघ्याला दुखापत झाली होती. तिसऱ्या कसोटीच्या दुसऱ्या दिवशी भारतीय संघ क्षेत्ररक्षण करत होता आणि याचवेळी जडेजाला दुखापत झाली. ही दुखापत गंभीर असल्याने त्याने काही काळ विश्रांतीही घेतली होती. पण आता या दुखापतीचे स्वरुप नेमके आहे तरी काय, हे पाहण्यासाठी जडेजा हॉस्पिटलमध्ये दाखल झाला आहे. त्यामुळे आता जडेजाचा वैद्यकीय अहवाल आल्यावरच त्याच्या दुखापतीबाबतचे अपटेड्स मिळू शकतात. पण याबाबत बीसीसीआयने मात्र अधिकृतरीत्या कोणतीही माहिती दिलेली नाही. पण सामना संपल्यावर जडेजाने सोशल मीडियावर आपला हॉस्पिटलमधला फोटो पोस्ट केला आहे. तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यापूर्वीही जडेजा फिट नसल्याचे म्हटले जात होते, पण तिसऱ्या सामन्यात मात्र जडेजा खेळला होता. तिसऱ्या कसोटीच्या पहिल्या डावात जडेजाला चार धावा करता आल्या होत्या, दुसऱ्या डावात त्याने ३० धावांची खेळी साकारली होती. यासामन्यात जडेजाला दोन विकेटच मिळवता आल्या होत्या. तिन्ही कसोटी सामन्यांमध्ये अष्टपैलू रवींद्र जडेजाला संधी देण्यात आली होती. पण तिन्ही सामन्यांमध्ये जडेजाला चांगली कामगिरी करता आली नाही. जडेजाला विकेट्स मिळवण्यातही अपयश आले आणि त्याला जास्त धावाही करता आल्या नाहीत. त्यामुळे चौथ्या कसोटी सामन्यासाठी जडेजाला संघाबाहेर काढण्याच येऊ शकते. जडेजाच्या जागी आर. अश्विन हा भारतीय संघासाठी सर्वोत्तम पर्याय आहे. पण चौथ्या कसोटी सामन्यापूर्वी जडेजाचा वैद्यकीय अहवाल येणार आहे. त्यामध्ये नेमकं काय समोर येतं, हे पाहणं सर्वात महत्वाचं असेल. त्यानंतरच चौथ्या कसोटीबाबतचा निर्णय घेण्यात येऊ शकतो.

India administered record 1 cr jabs on Friday

India on Friday hit a record one crore doses of anti-Covid jabs till 10pm, surpassing the previous high of 92 lakh shots on August 16 as vaccination picked up pace with improved supplies. हेडिंग्ले : तिसऱ्या कसोटीत भारताचा कर्णधार विराट कोहलीचा नाणेफेक जिंकल्यानंतरचा निर्णय चुकला असं नाही, तर या सामन्यात एका खेळाडूला खेळवत त्याने मोठी चुक केली आहे. या सामन्यापूर्वी बऱ्याच जणांनी या खेळाडूवर टीका केली होती. पण विराटने कोणाचेही ऐकले नाही आणि त्यामुळे ही चुक आता संघाला चांगलीच महागात पडली आहे. दुसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यात विजय मिळवल्यावर कोहलीने संघ न बदलण्याचा निर्णय घेतला. पण खेळपट्टी पाहिल्यावरही विराटने आपला निर्णय कायम ठेवला, याचा सर्वांनाच धक्का बसला. कारण खेळपट्टीवर गवत नव्हते, त्यामुळे चार वेगवान खेळण्यात कोणताच पॉइंट नव्हता. पण विराटने चार गोलंदाज खेळवले आणि इशांत शर्मा दुसऱ्या दिवशी चांगलाच महागात पडल्याचे पाहायला मिळाले. कारण इशांतने २२ षटकांत ४.१८च्या सरासरीने ९२ धावा दिल्या, याचाच अर्थ इंग्लंडच्या फलंदाजांनी त्याची चांगलीच धुलाई केली. दुसऱ्या सामन्यापूर्वी वेगवान गोलंदाज शार्दुल ठाकूर हा दुखापतग्रस्त झाला होता आणि त्याच्याजागी इशांतला संधी देण्यात आली होती. पण इशांतला दुसऱ्या कसोटीत चांगली कामगिरी करता आली नव्हती. त्यामुळे शार्दुल फिट झाल्यावर त्याला संघात घ्यायला हवे होते. कारण शार्दुल हा फक्त वेगवान गोलंदाज नाही तर तो चांगली फलंदाजीही करू शकतो. पण विराटने ही गोष्ट केली नाही. जर शार्दुलला खेळवायचे नव्हते तर इशांतच्या जागी आर. अश्विन हा भारतासाठी सर्वात चांगला पर्याय होता. कारण अश्विन कोणत्याही खेळपट्टीवर विकेट्स मिळवू शकतो. त्याचबरोबर तो चांगली फलंदाजीही करू शकतो. पण विराटने यावेळी संघात कोणताही बदल केला नाही आणि त्याचा फटका भारतीय संघाला बसल्यचे आज पाहाला मिळाले आहे. इशांतकडे सर्वात जास्त अनुभव असला तरी तो सध्याच्या घडीला चांगल्या फॉर्मात नाही. त्याचबरोबर शार्दुल हा पहिल्या कसोटीत चांगल्या फॉर्मात होता, त्यामुळे तिसऱ्या कसोटीत त्याला संधी द्यायला हवी होती. त्याचबरोबर अश्विनला भारतीय संघातून का वगळले, याचे उत्तर अजूनही मिळालेले नाही.

Airline staff to face random dope tests

हेडिंग्ले : तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्याला आता काही तासांमध्येच सुरुवात होणार आहे. पण तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्याची खेळपट्टी जेव्हा भारताचा कर्णधार विराट कोहलीने पाहिली तेव्हा त्याला मोठा धक्का बसला. त्याचबरोबर या खेळपट्टीबाबतचे विराटने आपले मत व्यक्त केले आहे. तिसरा कसोटी सामना बुधवारपासून हेडिंग्लेच्या मैदानात सुरु होणार आहे. या सामन्यासाठी खेळपट्टी कशी असेल, याचे चित्र कोहलीने आपल्या मानत तयार केले होते. त्यामुळे जेव्हा खेळपट्टी पाहण्यासाठी कोहली मैदानात गेला तेव्हा त्याला धक्का बसला. याबाबत कोहली म्हणाला की, " तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यासाठी खेळपट्टी पाहायला मी मैदानात गेलो आणि मला धक्काच बसला. कारण या सामन्यासाठी खेळपट्टीवर गवत ठेवण्यात येईल, असे मला वाटले होते. पण खेळपट्टीवर मला गवत दिसले नाही. त्यामुळे आता कोणत्या खेळाडूंना या सामन्यासाठी संधी द्यायची, याचा निर्णय आम्ही बुधवारीच घेणार आहोत." आतापर्यंंत दोन्ही कसोटी सामन्यांमध्ये खेळप्टटीवर गवत होते आणि पण आता तिसऱ्या कसोटीसाठी मात्र खेळपट्टीवर गवत ठेवण्यात आलेले नाही.त्यामुळे कोहलीने जेव्हा खेळपट्टी पाहिली तेव्हा कोहलीला धक्का बसला. त्यामुळे आता कदाचित भारतीय संघातील एक वेगवान गोलंदाज संघाबाहेर जाण्याची शक्यता आहे. कारण या खेळपट्टीवर वेगवान गोलंदाजांना जास्त मदत मिळणार नाही. त्यामुळे भारतीय संघा या सामन्यासाठी तीन वेगवान आणि दोन फिरकी गोलंदाजांसह उतरण्याची दाट शक्यता आहे. त्यामुळे उद्या सामन्याच्यापूर्वी जेव्हा संघ जाहीर करण्यात येईल, तेव्हा कोणत्या खेळाडूंना संघी मिळते याकडे सर्वांचे लक्ष लागलेले असेल. भारताने ऐतिहासिक लॉर्ड्स मैदानावर झालेल्या दुसऱ्या कसोटीत विजय मिळून मालिकेत १-० अशी आघाडी घेतली आहे. या विजयामुळे भारताचा आत्मविश्वास उंचावला आहे. मालिकेतील पहिल्या दोन्ही कसोटी भारताची कामगिरी शानदार झाली. पण मधळ्या फळीतील कामगिरी चिंताजनक आहे. मधळ्या फळीत पुजाराच्या जागी सूर्यकुमार यादवला संधी दिली जाऊ शकते. त्याच बरोबर आर अश्विनला संघाबाहेर ठेवल्यामुळे टीका झाली होती. अशात विकेट घेण्यास अपयशी ठरलेल्या रविंद्र जडेजाच्या जागी आर अश्विनला संधी दिली जाऊ शकते. त्यामुळे तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यासाठी भारतीय संघात हे दोन मोठे बदल होण्याची शक्यता वर्तवण्यात येत आहे.

नवी दिल्ली : भारत आणि इंग्लंड यांच्यातील तिसरा सामना आता काही तासांवर येऊन ठेपला आहे. या सामन्यासाठी भारतीय संघात दोन मोठे बदल होऊ शकतात, असे दिसत आहे. पहिला बदलभारतीय संघात पहिला बदल हा वेगवान गोलंदाजीमध्ये होऊ शकतो. कारण भारताचा वेगवान गोलंदाज शार्दुल ठाकूर हा आता पूर्णपणे फिट झाला आहे. शार्दुलने पहिल्या सामन्यात दमदार कामगिरी केली होती. पण दुसऱ्या कसोटीत त्याला दुखापतीमुळे खेळता आले नव्हते. शार्दुल हा एक चांगला वेगवान गोलंदाज तर आहेच, पण तो उपयुक्त फलंदाजीही करू शकतो. त्यामुळे भारतीय संघ त्याचा एक अष्टपैलू खेळाडू म्हणून विचार करत आहे. त्यामुळे शार्दुलचे भारतीय संघातील स्थान महत्वाचे आहे. त्यामुळे पहिल्या कसोटीतील कामगिरीच्या जोरावर शार्दुलला तिसऱ्या सामन्यात खेळण्याची संधी मिळण्याची आशा आहे. पण शार्दुलला संघात स्थान द्यायचे असेल तर त्यासाठी इशांत शर्माला संघातून वगळावे लागणार आहे. दुसरा बदलभारतीय संघातील अष्टपैलू खेळाडू रवींद्र जडेजा हा पूर्णपणे फिट नसल्याचे दिसत आहे. त्याचबरोबर गेल्या दोन्ही कसोटी सामन्यांमध्ये जडेजाला चांगली कामगिरी करता आलेली नाही. त्यामुळे तिसऱ्या कसोटीसाठी भारतीय संघात जडेजाच्या जागी आर. अश्विनची निवड करण्यात येऊ शकते. कारण जेव्हा अश्विनला पहिल्या कसोटीमधून वगळले होते, तेव्हा सर्वांनाच धक्का बसला होता. अश्विनने इंग्लंडमध्येही आतापर्यंत चांगली कामगिरी केली असली तरी त्याला अजूनही या मालिकेत संधी मिळालेली नाही. पण तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यात मात्र जडेजाच्या जागी आता अश्विनला संधी मिळण्याची दाट शक्यता आहे. तिसऱ्या कसोटी सामन्यासाठी अजून एक बदल करायचा झाला तर सूर्यकुमार यादवला भारतीय संघात स्थान मिळू शकते. पण सूर्यकुमारला संघात स्थान द्यायचे असेल तर कोणाला वगळायचे, हा मोठा प्रश्न भारतीय संघापुढे असेल. पण सूर्यकुमारला खेळवण्याचा भारतीय संघाचा निर्णय झाला असेल तर कदाचित चेतेश्वर पुजाराला एका सामन्यासाठी विश्रांती देण्यात येऊ शकते.

"The science of the need and the timing of booster shots is still evolving. Different vaccines may have different schedules. It is being closely watched and studied," he told TOI.
