48% rise in direct tax mop-up, tops revised estimates by 9%

The numbers showed collections up to March 16, 2022 were 48% higher than the corresponding period last year and 42% higher than the previous year. The net collections of Rs 13.6 lakh crore so far this year, included refunds of a little under Rs 1.9 lakh crore, CBDT said in a statement.
