Purvanchal Expressway: What it means for east UP, Bihar

As PM Narendra Modi landed on the Purvanchal expressway in a C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft, it heralded a new era of development for one of the least developed regions of the country. The 341-kilometre Purvanchal Expressway runs through some of the poorest parts of Uttar Pradesh, and locals hope it will bring jobs and economic progress for the region through faster connectivity. The new expressway runs right up to Bihar border and will also play a key role in bringing western parts of Bihar close to Delhi.
