UP: Migrants account for 60% of active Covid cases
Uttar Pradesh's Covid-19 cases crossed the 6,500-mark, with 229 fresh cases being reported in the past 24 hours. The Delhi airport saw its first departure at 4.45 am to Pune while Mumbai airport's first departure was at 6.45 am to Patna, the officials said. Taiwan promises help to Hong Kong's people
Taiwan will provide the people of Hong Kong with "necessary assistance", President Tsai Ing-wen said, after a resurgence in protests in the Chinese ruled territory against newly proposed national security legislation from Beijing. Taiwan has become a refuge for a small but growing number of pro-democracy protesters fleeing Hong Kong, which has been convulsed since last year by protests.

NZ PM Ardern unruffled as quake hits mid-interview
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern barely skipped a beat when an earthquake struck during a live television interview Monday morning. She interrupted Newshub host Ryan Bridge to tell him what was happening at the parliament complex in the capital, Wellington. India now No. 10 among Covid-hit nations
India overtook Iran on Sunday in total recorded cases of the coronavirus to take the 10th spot among nations worst-hit by the pandemic. New cases reported in the past 24 hours spiralled to 6,566, the highest single-day rise so far and the sixth peak in daily cases in as many days, even as the day's death toll rose to 153. Maharashtra led the numbers with a fresh high of 3,041 new cases, 1,725 from Mumbai alone.

Afghan Taliban announce three-day Eid ceasefire
The Taliban announced a three-day ceasefire during the Eid al-Fitr holiday starting Sunday in a surprise move following months of bloody fighting with Afghan forces after the group signed a landmark agreement with the United States.
